Sheldon Fisher dies in fatal Polson Christmas Day shooting
Fatal Polson Christmas Day shooting death of Sheldon Fisher – Obituary
Sheldon Fisher, 31, of Pablo, was fatally shot on December 25, 2024, during a Christmas Day gathering in Polson. Authorities have charged 17-year-old Elijah Cajune with deliberate homicide in connection with the incident.
The shooting occurred near 1002 4th Street West and 408 11th Avenue West. According to the Polson City Police Department and Lake County Sheriff’s Office, officers responded to reports of gunfire and found Fisher with a gunshot wound to his abdomen. Despite emergency responders’ efforts, Fisher was pronounced dead at 3:53 a.m.
Court documents reveal that security footage from a neighboring residence captured a verbal altercation between Fisher and another attendee, identified as “E.O.” The argument escalated, and Fisher was pursued by Cajune and four other individuals.
As Fisher fled, Cajune was seen drawing what appeared to be a pistol. Shortly after, two gunshots were heard, and the group was seen fleeing the scene.
Witnesses reported hearing partygoers exclaim, “Elijah shot a fool” and “Elijah shot Sheldon.” Cajune and the others reportedly left in a Ford Expedition pickup. Investigators discovered a .45 ACP round on Fisher’s body, though the weapon used in the shooting has not been recovered.
The incident is believed to have stemmed from a personal dispute, with witnesses indicating that the group had discussed attacking Fisher prior to his arrival.
Chief Deputy Lake County Attorney Brendan McQuillan has filed charges against Cajune, and further legal proceedings are pending.
