Aurora police are investigating the tragic death of 16-year-old Audrina Fedelina, who was fatally shot during a home invasion at an apartment complex in Aurora on the morning of Tuesday, January 8.
Officers responded to a 911 call around 6:15 a.m. from a resident reporting a break-in at an apartment in the 10600 block of East Jewell Avenue, near the Dayton Triangle neighborhood.
Upon arrival, authorities discovered Audrina suffering from gunshot wounds, and she was transported to a nearby hospital where she later succumbed to her injuries.
According to Aurora Police Captain Marc Paolino, two men entered the apartment, leading to a violent altercation during which multiple shots were fired.
A witness who lives in the complex described hearing the gunshots and seeing two men fleeing the scene. The witness also recalled another individual exiting the apartment, visibly upset, and shouting, “They shot my baby.”
The police have not yet made any arrests and have not provided suspect descriptions. Investigators are still working to determine the motive for the attack and any possible connections between the suspects and the apartment’s residents.
Audrina’s family has set up a GoFundMe page to raise $4,500 to cover funeral expenses. Her family described her as a young woman with “the purest gold heart” and a smile that could light up any room. She was well-loved by her family, friends, and teachers.
Audrina was a student at Denver North High School, where school officials expressed their sorrow over the loss. In a statement, they called her a “beloved student” and offered support to her grieving family. The school is providing counseling services for students and staff during this difficult time.
