Christopher Onuorah, a 30-year-old high school teacher from Nigeria, tragically drowned on January 3 while visiting Tyrone Beach on the Mornington Peninsula, about 100 km south of Melbourne.
Onuorah, a mathematics and science teacher at Staughton College in Melton South, was found floating in the water and was brought to shore by a jet ski rider. Despite efforts to revive him through CPR, he was unable to be saved.
Onuorah was remembered by friends and colleagues as a kind-hearted and passionate educator, known for his positivity and the unique approach he brought to each of his students.
A GoFundMe page has been set up to help repatriate his remains to Nigeria and assist his family with funeral costs. His passing has left a profound impact on those who knew him.
