A tragic house fire early Tuesday morning in Menlo, Iowa, claimed the life of 73-year-old Denise K. Miller. Firefighters from the Menlo Fire Department and Stuart Fire and Rescue responded to the scene at approximately 9:20 a.m. after receiving a report of a blaze in the 400 block of 3rd Street.
Upon arrival, crews found heavy smoke and flames engulfing the home. Inside, they discovered Miller’s body at the end of a hallway near an exit. Her dog was also found dead inside the residence.
Miller, a longtime and beloved member of the Menlo community, is being mourned by her family, friends, and local residents. The cause of the fire remains under investigation, and an autopsy has been scheduled to determine her exact cause of death.
The community continues to grieve the loss of Denise, as the investigation into the fire’s origin progresses.
