Fatal Soufriere drowning death of Liam Douglas – Obituary
Liam Douglas, a 24-year-old from Mahaut, Dominica, tragically drowned while swimming near the jetty at Soufriere on Monday, January 6, 2025. Douglas was reportedly enjoying a swim when he began to experience difficulties.
Locals attempted to rescue him and successfully pulled him from the water, but he was unconscious at the time.
A medical professional on the scene attempted to resuscitate Douglas, who was then rushed to the Dominica China Friendship Hospital for further treatment.
Despite receiving urgent medical attention, Douglas succumbed to his injuries later that evening and was pronounced dead around 7 p.m.
The police are continuing to investigate the cause of the incident, and condolences are being shared online by the local community. The family of the deceased is being contacted as part of the ongoing investigation.
