Lisa A. Reed dies in fatal Valley railroad tracks incident
Fatal Valley railroad tracks incident death of Lisa A. Reed – Obituary
Valley Police have identified the deceased individual found near railroad tracks on New Year’s Day as Lisa A. Reed, a resident of Elkhorn. Officers responded to a call around 10 a.m. on January 1, reporting the discovery of Reed’s body next to the tracks near Spruce and Front Street in Valley, Nebraska.
According to witnesses, Reed had arranged for an Uber to pick her up from a local restaurant on New Year’s Eve but later canceled the ride, opting for a different plan. Security footage obtained by investigators from a nearby business shows a figure, believed to be Reed, walking toward the tracks and then collapsing just before 1 a.m.
The Douglas County Coroner confirmed that Reed sustained a fatal head injury during the fall, which caused her death. Police stated that the footage revealed no trains or other individuals in the vicinity at the time of the incident, ruling out any signs of foul play.
Authorities believe Reed was attempting to walk back home to Elkhorn when the accident occurred. The investigation is now closed, as no suspicious circumstances have been identified.
