Fatal Gainesville pedestrian accident death of Matt Umanos – Obituary
Matt Umanos, a local Realtor, tragically lost his life in a pedestrian accident on January 2. The incident occurred at around 5:42 p.m. when a car traveling northbound on NE 7th Street struck Umanos while he was walking westbound on NE 16th Avenue. The vehicle then flipped after hitting the pedestrian. Umanos was rushed to a hospital, where he later died from his injuries. His dog, also struck in the accident, was taken to a veterinarian but did not survive.
The driver of the car, who sustained non-life-threatening injuries, was also taken to a hospital for treatment. The authorities are continuing their investigation into the cause of the accident. Funeral services for Umanos were held on Saturday.
