Stephen Espino, 47, was killed in a head-on collision earlier this week on the Southeast Side of San Antonio. The Bexar County Medical Examiner’s Office confirmed that he died from blunt force injuries and ruled the incident an accident.
The crash occurred around 4 p.m. Tuesday in the 3300 block of Pecan Valley Drive. According to San Antonio police, a 31-year-old man driving a black SUV was speeding northbound when he crossed the median and collided head-on with Espino’s silver SUV.
Espino was transported to a hospital but succumbed to his injuries. The 31-year-old driver was critically injured and remains hospitalized.
Authorities reported that no other individuals were harmed, and they do not suspect alcohol or drugs were involved.
The investigation into the cause of the crash is ongoing, and it is unclear whether the 31-year-old driver will face any charges.
