Fatal Butler City carbon monoxide poisoning deaths of Thomas Reges, Wendy Schettig, and Jimmy Anderson – Obituary

Authorities have disclosed the identities of three individuals who were discovered deceased inside a Butler City residence on Tuesday. Responding to a call at 109 College Street regarding a reported fatality, officers arrived to find Thomas Reges, 62, Wendy Schettig, 48, and Jimmy Anderson, 69, dead, with suspected carbon monoxide poisoning as the likely cause.

Additionally, two other individuals were transported to a nearby hospital for treatment.

 

Firefighters reported dangerously high carbon monoxide levels within the home. According to police, another person had been in the residence days prior and was hospitalized but later discharged in stable condition, unaware of the cause of their illness.

 

Authorities noted that carbon monoxide detectors in the home had been intentionally disabled, possibly by the occupants.

They also confirmed that the incident was not related to a gas leak and that the house remains occupied. Officials have assured that nearby residents face no ongoing threat.
