Authorities have identified the pedestrian killed in a hit-and-run accident early Wednesday in Marina del Rey as 38-year-old Calvin Bauman. The Los Angeles County Department of Medical Examiner confirmed his identity on Thursday.
The incident occurred around 5:35 a.m. when an older red Toyota Tacoma, heading northbound on Lincoln Boulevard, struck Bauman as he was crossing the road eastward between Fiji Way and the Culver Boulevard overpass.
Paramedics arrived swiftly, but Bauman was pronounced dead at the scene by Los Angeles Fire Department personnel.
In response to the tragedy, the Los Angeles Police Department reminded motorists to stop, notify emergency services, and remain on-site after any collision.
A city-issued reward of up to $50,000 is being offered for information that could lead to the identification, arrest, and prosecution of the suspect responsible.
