Fatal Lyon County crash death of Christine Roberts – Obituary
Christine Roberts, an 81-year-old resident of Reno, Nevada, tragically lost her life in a collision near Smith Valley in Lyon County on January 16, 2025.
The crash occurred around 5:45 p.m. on State Route 338 at mile marker 26. According to a preliminary investigation by Nevada State Police, Roberts was driving a Chevrolet Malibu southbound on State Route 338 when, for unknown reasons, she veered into the northbound lane. A northbound Freightliner box truck swerved into the southbound lane to avoid her, but Roberts returned to the southbound lane, leading to a collision.
During the crash, the Freightliner overturned and landed on top of the Chevrolet Malibu. Roberts was pronounced dead at the scene.
The Nevada Highway Patrol Traffic Homicide Unit is currently investigating the circumstances surrounding the incident.
This marks the first fatal crash investigated by the Nevada Highway Patrol Region Two in 2025.
