Fatal Grayslake car crash death of Joseph Roon – Obituary
Joseph Roon, a 30-year-old resident of Lake Villa, was identified as the victim of a head-on collision that occurred Monday morning in Grayslake.
The Lake County Coroner’s Office reported that Roon died from blunt-force trauma caused by the accident, which took place around 8:30 a.m. near 115 S. Route 83. Emergency crews arrived to find significant damage to two of the three vehicles involved in the crash.
Authorities explained that the incident began when Roon, driving a white 2017 Chevrolet Malibu, rear-ended a blue 2020 Toyota Corolla while heading south on Route 83. The impact caused Roon’s vehicle to veer into the northbound lane, where it collided head-on with a black 2019 Lexus UX.
Roon was transported to Advocate Condell Medical Center in Libertyville, where he was pronounced dead in the emergency room.
Due to the severity of the crash, the Major Crash Assistance Team (MCAT) of Lake County was called to assist with the investigation, which is ongoing. Grayslake police and MCAT continue to review the circumstances surrounding the tragic accident.
