Billy Ray Jamison, a pharmaceutical representative, was fatally shot during an apparent robbery at a Walgreens located at the intersection of Line Avenue and Kings Highway in Shreveport on Wednesday morning. Authorities received a 911 call regarding the incident at approximately 10:20 a.m.
Councilman Gary Brooks, who represents the area where the crime occurred, expressed his condolences to Jamison’s family and vowed to prioritize community safety. “Violence like this has no place in our city, especially in neighborhoods where families live and children grow up,” Brooks stated. He also commended the Shreveport Police Department for their quick response and continued efforts to locate the individual responsible for the crime.
Council Chairwoman Tabatha Taylor also extended her sympathies, noting that Jamison resided in her district. “I am deeply saddened by this tragic and senseless loss of life. My heartfelt condolences go out to the family of Mr. Jamison,” she said. Taylor emphasized the council’s full support for the ongoing police investigation and encouraged anyone with information to assist law enforcement.
Police identified Larry Lewis as a suspect in the case on Thursday evening. Lewis, who is wanted in connection with an unrelated incident, is considered armed and dangerous. A $5,000 reward is being offered by Caddo Crime Stoppers for any tips leading to his arrest.
