Antionette Jennings dies in fatal Govans shooting
Fatal Govans shooting death of Antionette Jennings – Obituary
Antionette Jennings, a 52-year-old pre-K paraeducator at Waverly Elementary/Middle School, tragically lost her life in a triple shooting in the Govans neighborhood of North Baltimore on the evening of January 22, 2025.
According to authorities, Jennings, along with her 29-year-old son and 11-year-old granddaughter, was inside a vehicle when the shooting occurred in the 5400 block of York Road around 5:30 p.m. Jennings was pronounced dead at the scene, while her son and granddaughter sustained non-life-threatening injuries.
Police are continuing their investigation and have yet to identify any suspects. Officials believe a minor dispute may have escalated into the deliberate targeting of the family.
Before the incident, Jennings was attending her granddaughter’s basketball game at Tunbridge School, where an altercation had led to the gymnasium being cleared. Although a letter from school principals mentioned the fight, there was no direct confirmation linking it to the shooting.
Jennings’ death marks one of ten fatal shootings in Baltimore this year, a number comparable to the same period in 2024.
