A single-vehicle accident in Chippewa County, Wisconsin, early Saturday morning claimed the life of Barry Lancette, a 73-year-old resident of the Town of Lafayette.
The Chippewa County Sheriff’s Office reported that the crash occurred near 20500 30th Avenue in the Town of Lafayette. Authorities believe the vehicle left the roadway, traveled approximately 200 feet, and collided with a tree.
The crash is thought to have taken place earlier than the 4:58 a.m. call to authorities. Lancette was pronounced dead at the scene by the Chippewa County Coroner’s Office due to injuries sustained in the crash.
An investigation into the incident is ongoing.
