Fatal South Memphis shooting deaths of Marcus Epps and Leon Parker – Obituary

Marcus Epps, 27, and Leon Parker, 30, lost their lives in a shooting that erupted Wednesday afternoon in South Memphis, according to police. The incident, which also left three others critically injured, took place at a residence near LeMoyne-Owen College.

Authorities reported that officers arrived at the scene to find five individuals suffering from gunshot wounds. One victim was pronounced dead at the location, while another succumbed to their injuries at Regional One Health. The three remaining victims were transported to the hospital with life-threatening wounds.

Investigators stated that the shooting stemmed from a dispute inside the home, leading to an exchange of gunfire. However, details regarding who fired first remain unclear, and police have not confirmed whether any of the survivors will face charges.

The scene remained active for hours as law enforcement, emergency personnel, and crime scene investigators worked to gather evidence. Memphis Police Chief C.J. Davis and other officials were present as authorities examined the circumstances surrounding the violence.

Despite the proximity of the shooting to a daycare and tutoring facility, LeMoyne-Owen College assured the public that the incident did not involve its students, faculty, or staff. The college confirmed that operations would continue as usual, emphasizing their commitment to campus safety.

Memphis police have confirmed that all individuals involved in the shooting have been accounted for, but the motive remains under investigation.
