Oriana Rodriguez, 37, was one of two women killed in a shooting early Tuesday morning in Chicago’s South Shore neighborhood, according to authorities.
Police responded to the 7700 block of South Oglesby Avenue just before 5 a.m., where they found three women who had been shot. Two victims were pronounced dead at the scene, including Rodriguez, while a third woman was transported to the University of Chicago Medical Center in critical condition.
A neighbor, Yvette McKinney, reported that the surviving victim rang her doorbell while bleeding and pleading for help. McKinney and her mother called 911, and paramedics arrived shortly after.
Witnesses described the victims as being lightly dressed for the cold weather, wearing only T-shirts and sweatpants.
The circumstances surrounding the shooting remain under investigation, and authorities have not released details about potential suspects.
