Fatal Woodford County car crash death of Donna Guenther – Obituary
Donna Guenther, 62, of El Paso, lost her life in a two-vehicle collision Monday morning on Illinois Route 251, just south of Kappa.
According to Woodford County Coroner Tim Ruestman, Guenther was pronounced dead at the scene after her Jeep was struck by a GMC pickup truck. The impact caused her vehicle to roll over, ejecting her in the process.
Authorities reported that emergency responders arrived at the crash site around 7 a.m. Investigators determined that Guenther had been driving southbound when the northbound GMC collided with her Jeep. The impact led to the Jeep overturning, resulting in Guenther being thrown from the vehicle.
Illinois State Police temporarily shut down the highway to conduct their investigation, reopening it by 11:45 a.m. The driver of the GMC sustained non-life-threatening injuries and was transported to a hospital for treatment.
State police and the coroner’s office are continuing their investigation to determine the circumstances that led to the crash.
