A devastating crash in Dallas County on Thursday night claimed the lives of four teenagers and left another injured, according to the Alabama Law Enforcement Agency.
The accident occurred when an 18-year-old driver from Wetumpka lost control of a 2006 Toyota Avalon, causing the vehicle to veer off the road and collide with a tree. The driver, along with three passengers, died at the scene. The victims were identified as 19-year-old Isaiah D. McDade of Pike Road, 19-year-old Tyler O. Jones of Montgomery, and a 17-year-old from Selma.
Another passenger, Deneco D. Smith of Montgomery, was injured in the crash and transported to a hospital for medical treatment.
Authorities confirmed that none of the occupants in the vehicle were wearing seat belts at the time of the accident.
The crash happened on U.S. 80 near the 90-mile marker, approximately 10 miles east of Selma. Investigators from ALEA’s Highway Patrol Division continue to examine the circumstances surrounding the fatal incident.
