Fatal Durham shooting death of Marques Valntae Johnson – Obituary

Marques Valntae Johnson, 40, was identified as the victim of a deadly shooting in Durham early Saturday morning, according to local authorities.

 

Durham police responded to reports of a gunshot wound around 6:21 a.m. on the 1400 block of New Castle Road. Upon arrival, officers discovered Johnson, who had suffered a gunshot wound. He was pronounced dead at the scene.

 

Investigators spent several hours examining the area to determine the circumstances leading up to the shooting. Police believe the incident was isolated and are continuing their investigation.

 

Authorities urge anyone with information to contact Investigator J. Kellar at 919-560-4440 ext. 29306 or CrimeStoppers at (919) 683-1200. CrimeStoppers offers cash rewards for tips leading to arrests while allowing callers to remain anonymous.
