Fatal I-57 rollover crash death of Tony D. Haywood and Jayla S. Covington – Obituary
Tony D. Haywood, 23, and Jayla S. Covington, 26, both from Chicago, lost their lives in a rollover crash on Interstate 57 Monday afternoon, according to the Illinois State Police.
Authorities responded to the scene around 1:13 p.m., where they discovered the overturned vehicle. Both Haywood and Covington, identified as the driver and passenger, were pronounced dead at the scene.
The crash led to the closure of lanes three and four, which remained shut down until 5:15 p.m. as investigators worked to determine the cause of the accident.
Illinois State Police have not yet released further details regarding what led to the crash, and the investigation remains ongoing.
