John H. Jones dies in fatal Labette County police chase crash

Fatal Labette County police chase crash death of John H. Jones – Obituary

A man who led law enforcement on a high-speed chase Thursday afternoon in Labette County has been identified as 52-year-old John H. Jones. The chase ended with a fatal crash after Jones lost control of his vehicle and collided with a tree.

 

The incident began just after 1:30 p.m. when a deputy observed Jones running a stop sign at Wallace Road and 20000 Road at a high speed. Jones attempted to evade the deputy by driving through a field and continuing at speeds over 100 mph. He caused four vehicles to be run off the road and even tried to ram the deputy’s car before losing control and crashing into a tree.

 

Jones was transported to Labette Health, where he later died from his injuries. Authorities later discovered that he had a suspended driver’s license, outstanding arrest warrants, and a criminal history including convictions for aggravated burglary, theft, drug offenses, and more.
