Fatal Winston-Salem hit-and-run pedestrian crash death of Khadim Mbaye – Obituary
A tragic hit-and-run incident in Winston-Salem claimed the life of 41-year-old Khadim Mbaye on Friday, February 8, 2025.
The crash occurred at approximately 9:13 p.m. at the intersection of New Walkertown Road and Waterworks Road when a 2003 Honda, driven by 42-year-old Kevin Johnson, struck Mbaye as he crossed the street.
The driver fled the scene following the collision, leaving Mbaye fatally injured. Despite attempts to investigate, the pedestrian was pronounced dead at the scene.
Kevin Johnson was later apprehended and charged with multiple offenses, including driving while impaired, driving with a revoked license, felony hit and run, and felony death by motor vehicle. He was held on a $250,000 secured bond and is scheduled for his first court appearance on Monday.
