Salim Karim Iskef dies in fatal mass shooting at Orebro adult education center

Fatal Orebro mass shooting death of Salim Karim Iskef – Obituary

Salim Karim Iskef, a 28-year-old nursing student, tragically lost his life in a mass shooting on February 6, 2025, in Orebro, Sweden. Iskef, who had been studying to become a nurse, was one of 10 people killed when a gunman opened fire at an adult education center. Before his death, Iskef managed to video-call his fiancée, Kareen Alia, to tell her he loved her one last time.

Iskef, who had fled Syria with his family in 2014, had recently bought a home with Alia and was planning to marry her in the summer. His sister, Hanan Eskif, shared the deep pain their family felt, expressing how difficult it was to imagine life without him. Authorities have not yet identified the shooter, though it is believed the attacker had some connection to the adult education center. Investigations are ongoing, with police finding the shooter deceased, surrounded by firearms and ammunition.

The mass shooting has devastated the local community, and Iskef’s family, church, and the surrounding area are mourning his loss. The tragic event has also sparked discussions in Sweden about tightening gun laws, especially regarding semi-automatic weapons.
