Fatal Laredo shooting death of Angel Morales – Obituary
A deadly shooting in Laredo early Sunday morning claimed the life of 31-year-old Angel Morales. Authorities identified both the victim and the suspect later that evening.
Laredo police responded to a call around 3:30 a.m. at 202 E. Saunders Street, where they found Morales with a gunshot wound to the head. He was pronounced dead at the scene.
Investigators identified 28-year-old Alberto Cantu as the suspect. Officers located Cantu and brought him in for questioning at the Laredo Police Department. Authorities also recovered several pieces of evidence, including the firearm believed to have been used in the shooting.
Cantu was charged with first-degree murder and booked into Webb County Jail. Police have not yet determined the motive behind the killing, and the investigation remains ongoing.
This marks the second homicide of the year in Laredo, bringing the city’s total to one-third of last year’s homicide count.
