Eliseo Maya, a 29-year-old resident of Melrose Park, lost his life early Saturday morning in a high-speed crash in Chicago’s Dunning neighborhood.
Authorities report that the vehicle, traveling at excessive speed, lost control near the 4200 block of North Oak Park at approximately 2:16 a.m. and collided with a utility pole. Maya, who was a passenger, was pronounced dead at the scene by the Cook County Medical Examiner’s Office.
A female passenger sustained critical injuries and was taken to a nearby hospital, while the 29-year-old driver was also hospitalized but in stable condition. Officials have stated that citations against the driver are pending.
