The Brockton community is mourning the loss of 20-year-old Fernando Da Silveira Jr., who tragically died in a car crash late on February 5, 2025.
Fernando was driving a Honda Civic on North Cary Street when the car veered off the road and struck a tree. He died at the scene. A passenger, 37-year-old Christopher Ribeiro of Brockton, was also killed in the crash, while a rear seat passenger sustained injuries and was taken to a hospital.
Fernando’s mother, Pamela Pereira, shared that her son had a deep bond with his father, with whom he worked on building the car he died in. He was described as a hardworking, humble young man with a passion for cars and bikes.
A talented mechanic, Fernando had been working on opening his own auto shop and was well-known for helping anyone in need. His mother emphasized his kindness, humility, and respectfulness, stating, “At 20, he died a legend.”
A vigil was held in his honor, and the community continues to grieve the loss of a young man who was beloved by many. The investigation into the crash is ongoing.
