Fatal Wellingborough car crash death of Joe Maddy – Obituary

Joe Maddy, a 15-year-old from Irchester, has been identified as the victim of a tragic car accident in Wellingborough.

 

On Friday, February 7, Joe was a passenger in a silver Toyota Hilux when the vehicle veered off the road for reasons still under investigation. The car ended up in the River Nene at the Embankment. Emergency responders, including Northamptonshire Fire and Rescue Service, arrived at the scene and conducted a water rescue. Despite their efforts, Joe was later pronounced dead at the hospital.

 

His grieving family has expressed gratitude to those who have offered support during this difficult time. “We want to thank everyone for their kind words at this incredibly sad moment,” they shared.

 

Authorities have assigned specially trained officers from the Serious Collision Investigation Unit to assist Joe’s family. They have also urged witnesses to come forward with any relevant information about the incident, including dashcam footage or observations of the vehicle’s movements prior to the crash.

The 18-year-old driver of the Toyota Hilux, also from Irchester, sustained minor injuries and was arrested on suspicion of causing death by dangerous driving. He has since been released on bail while investigations continue.
