Fatal Tulare shooting death of Solomon Ponce – Obituary
A man lost his life in a shooting in Tulare on Friday night, with police later arresting a teenage suspect.
Authorities responded to reports of gunfire around 10:50 p.m. near San Joaquin Avenue and California Street. Upon arrival, officers discovered 31-year-old Solomon Ponce suffering from a gunshot wound. He was transported to a nearby hospital, where he ultimately succumbed to his injuries.
Investigators learned that another individual, who had also been shot, drove himself to the hospital with non-life-threatening injuries. Police determined he was present at the scene of the shooting.
According to detectives, Ponce was involved in a physical altercation with multiple individuals when one of them opened fire. Officers later identified a suspect and, after securing a search warrant, arrested a 17-year-old boy in connection with the shooting.
