Fatal Janesville house fire death of Dravin Flick and Blaize Switzer – Obituary

A devastating house fire in Janesville early Friday morning claimed the lives of two young boys, 7-year-old Dravin Flick and 11-year-old Blaize Switzer.

Fire crews from the Lincoln Fire Protection District responded to the 100 block of E. Adams at approximately 3:30 a.m. Upon arrival, they found the home engulfed in flames. According to Chief Kevin Rankin, the boys were trapped upstairs while their parents, who had been sleeping downstairs, managed to escape through a window. Despite their efforts to re-enter the home through the front door and a ladder, the intense fire prevented them from reaching their children.

The home was completely destroyed, and investigators are still working to determine the cause of the fire. Janesville is an unincorporated community spanning Coles and Cumberland Counties. Authorities continue to investigate, and further updates will be provided as more details emerge.
