Authorities have identified Lu-Yao Lin from China and Siriyakorn Sovitayasakul from Thailand as the two victims who lost their lives in a crash in Greta Valley on December 19.
Both individuals, aged 28, were in New Zealand on working holiday visas when the accident occurred. The crash took place on State Highway 1, just south of the Hurunui River bridge, around 7:15 p.m. and was one of three fatal accidents reported on southern roads that day.
The incident involved two vehicles, though police have not yet disclosed further details about the cause of the crash. Investigations into the circumstances surrounding the collision remain ongoing.
