Authorities have identified 34-year-old Lucio Ornelas Avina of Paso Robles as the victim of a deadly single-vehicle crash that took place on February 3 on Creston Road.
According to the Templeton CHP, Avina was driving a Ford Escape at high speed when he lost control and crashed into an oil pipe fence east of the road. The vehicle caught fire, and Avina was unable to escape before succumbing to his injuries at the scene.
Investigators have not yet determined whether drugs or alcohol played a role in the accident.
The San Luis Obispo Coroner’s Office confirmed Avina’s identity, and authorities continue to investigate the circumstances surrounding the crash.
