STEUBEN COUNTY, IN — Authorities have identified the driver who lost his life in a fiery crash on February 1 along State Road 120 near County Road 525 West.
The Steuben County Coroner’s Office confirmed the victim as 54-year-old Andre David Didrick of rural Orland, Indiana. His identity was verified through DNA analysis.
According to the Steuben County Sheriff’s Department, Didrick was driving a 2024 Toyota Camry at high speed when he lost control for unknown reasons. The vehicle veered off the road and struck a large concrete post before catching fire.
Witnesses reported seeing the car fully engulfed in flames upon impact. Firefighters from Orland and Fremont responded to extinguish the blaze, after which Didrick was discovered deceased inside the vehicle.
The Steuben County Sheriff’s Office was assisted at the scene by the Indiana State Police, Fremont Fire, Orland Fire, Steuben County EMS, and the Steuben County Coroner’s Office.
