Fatal Oneida County snowmobile crash death of Jake P. Van Hefty – Obituary

Authorities have confirmed that 22-year-old Jake P. Van Hefty of Minocqua lost his life following a snowmobile accident on McCormick Lake in the Town of Hazelhurst. The Oneida County Sheriff’s Office released his identity in an update regarding the tragic incident.

 

Emergency responders were dispatched at 8:40 a.m. on Tuesday after reports of a crash involving a single snowmobile. Upon arrival, they found Van Hefty unresponsive due to severe injuries. He was transported by air to a nearby hospital for emergency medical treatment.

 

Multiple agencies assisted at the scene, including the Hazelhurst Fire Department, Minocqua Fire Department, Med 5, Minocqua Police Department, Life Link, and the Wisconsin Department of Natural Resources. The DNR has taken charge of the ongoing investigation.
