Fatal Miami-Dade County incident death of Jansie Barthold – Obituary

Authorities in Miami-Dade County have arrested a 20-year-old man in connection with the death of his 17-year-old girlfriend, Jansie Barthold, who was discovered unresponsive outside his home near Miami Shores.

Police responded to a call around 9 p.m. Monday at a residence on Northeast Second Avenue. Barthold was found in the backyard and pronounced dead at the scene shortly after. Investigators identified Dominique Domond as the suspect and took him into custody on Tuesday night, charging him with second-degree murder.

According to police reports, Domond initially claimed he had been attacked by Barthold and another unidentified male. However, his statements were inconsistent, and he later admitted that only he and Barthold were present during the altercation. He ultimately confessed to choking her before carrying her body outside and leaving it in the yard.

Barthold’s brother, Quincy Vincent, arrived at the scene in search of answers about his sister’s death. Meanwhile, Domond is being held without bond at the Turner Guilford Knight Correctional Center and is expected to appear in court again on Thursday.

A GoFundMe campaign has been launched by Barthold’s family to help with funeral expenses. The investigation remains ongoing.
