The Ada County Coroner’s Office has confirmed the identity of 23-year-old Samson Edwards from Meridian as the individual who tragically lost his life in a crash on I-84 early Monday morning.
At around 3:30 a.m., emergency responders were called to mile marker 42 on westbound I-84. Edwards was found deceased at the scene after being struck by a vehicle following a multi-vehicle collision.
The crash began when a Kia Rio rear-ended a Subaru Impreza, causing the Subaru to leave the road. After the collision, the Kia was left disabled in the interstate lane. Edwards, the driver of the Kia, exited the vehicle, only to be struck and killed by a Mitsubishi Mirage.
The cause of death was determined to be traumatic blunt force injuries, and the incident was ruled an accident. Idaho State Police are handling the investigation.
