Fatal Sacramento fire death of Thomas Mulvaney – Obituary

A tragic fire in Midtown Sacramento early Tuesday morning claimed the life of 50-year-old Thomas Mulvaney. The fire broke out at an office building located at the corner of J and 19th streets around 2:30 a.m.

When fire crews arrived, they encountered thick smoke, which delayed their ability to search the building. After the fire was extinguished, Mulvaney’s body was found alongside that of a woman and a dog.

Although the building was previously believed to be vacant, authorities discovered signs of human activity inside, including bedding and personal belongings.

The Sacramento County Coroner’s office confirmed Mulvaney’s death. The cause and origin of the fire remain under investigation, with officials reviewing evidence to determine what sparked the blaze.

Fire authorities have commended the Sacramento Fire Department for their swift response, while local officials noted the ongoing challenges related to homelessness and trespassing in the area.
