Fatal Tiverton car crash death of Jennifer M. Sylvia – Obituary

Jennifer M. Sylvia, 52, of Tiverton, lost her life following a serious car accident on Thursday night.

Captain Michael Miguel reported that at around 9:53 p.m., Tiverton Police responded to a call regarding a single-vehicle crash near 840 Lake Road.

Upon arrival, officers and fire personnel discovered a grey 2014 Subaru Impreza had veered off the road, collided with a tree, and caught fire. Sylvia, the sole occupant of the car, was trapped inside.

Emergency responders managed to extricate her from the burning vehicle, and she was transported to St. Anne’s Hospital in Fall River, Massachusetts. Sadly, she was pronounced dead at the hospital.

Preliminary findings suggest that speed may have played a role in the crash.

Lake Road was closed in both directions for about three hours as authorities conducted their investigation. Tiverton Police and Fire Departments were supported at the scene by the Little Compton Fire Department.

The Tiverton Police Department’s Accident Reconstruction Team is continuing to investigate the incident. Anyone with information is encouraged to reach out to Detective Nicole Beauvais at nbeauvais@tivertonpoliceri.com or Officer Joseph Barek at jbarek@tivertonpoliceri.com.
