Fatal Sumter, South Carolina shooting death of Jaquante Montgomery – Obituary

Jaquante Montgomery, a 24-year-old resident of Sumter, was fatally shot inside a Walmart Supercenter on Broad Street in Sumter, South Carolina.

 

Authorities reported that Montgomery was shot multiple times during the incident, which occurred on Friday. Emergency responders transported him to Prisma Health Toumey, where he later succumbed to his injuries.

 

Sumter police arrested the suspect, 19-year-old Chanceler Lowery, after his parents turned him in to law enforcement Friday afternoon. Investigators believe the shooting stemmed from a prior dispute between the two men.

 

An autopsy for Montgomery is scheduled for Tuesday, February 18, at the Medical University of South Carolina in Charleston. The investigation into the shooting remains ongoing.

Daniel J. Bonnet, 27, was fatally shot during an exchange of gunfire with an Independence police officer on Thursday night.

 

Authorities reported that an officer attempted to stop Bonnet around 9:45 p.m. near East 23rd Street South and South Sterling Avenue. Bonnet allegedly fled the traffic stop, heading west on 23rd Street before crashing into another vehicle near an Interstate 435 overpass.

 

After the collision, Bonnet reportedly exited his vehicle and ran north on the southbound highway off-ramp. While fleeing, he allegedly fired at a pursuing officer, prompting the officer to return fire. Bonnet was struck, and officers at the scene attempted life-saving measures until paramedics arrived and pronounced him dead.

 

The officer involved in the shooting was not injured. The case is currently under investigation by the Police Involved Incident Team, with findings set to be reviewed by the Jackson County Prosecutor’s Office.

Law enforcement responded to a call on Gerry Drive in the Montego Bay subdivision, where they found Sheffield suffering from gunshot wounds. He was transported to John Peter Smith Hospital, where he was later pronounced dead.

 

Authorities have arrested three suspects in connection to the shooting: 17-year-old Alex Cisnerso, 20-year-old Gabriel Ocanas, and an unnamed 16-year-old. All three have been charged with capital murder. However, an 18-year-old suspect, Angel Morales, remains at large and is considered armed and dangerous.

 

The Hood County Sheriff’s Office and Texas Rangers are leading the investigation. Anyone with information on Morales’ whereabouts is urged to contact law enforcement immediately.

Jacob Nathaniel Constance, 28, of Chesnee, South Carolina, lost his life in a motorcycle accident on SC 11 near Brown Arrow Circle on Friday evening.

 

According to the South Carolina Highway Patrol, the crash occurred around 5:50 p.m. when a 2011 Dodge pickup truck attempted to enter SC 11 northbound from a private driveway. Constance, who was riding a 2009 Harley Davidson southbound on SC 11, collided with the truck.

 

The Spartanburg County Coroner’s Office pronounced him dead at the scene at 6:40 p.m. Authorities confirmed that he was not wearing a helmet at the time of the crash.

 

Officials will conduct a forensic examination as part of the ongoing investigation by the South Carolina Highway Patrol.

Indiana State Police responded to the scene shortly after 5:30 p.m. following reports of a crash.

Investigators determined that Aung’s vehicle was traveling south on County Road 200 West, just past State Road 218, when it veered across the center line for an unknown reason.

 

The car left the road, crossed a yard, and collided head-on with a tree. Emergency responders extricated Aung from the wreckage, but he was pronounced dead at the scene.

 

Authorities believe speed contributed to the crash. The Huntington County Coroner’s Office confirmed that Aung was not wearing a seatbelt.

An autopsy will be conducted to determine the exact cause and manner of death.

Authorities say Herndon was running northeast across the main lanes of I-35 southbound when a red 2018 Freightliner hit him. He was pronounced dead at the scene, and the Bexar County Medical Examiner determined his cause of death was blunt force injuries, ruling it an accident.

 

The driver of the Freightliner, identified as 64-year-old Victor Miranda-Baltazar, fled the scene but was later located several miles away. He was taken into custody and charged with collision involving death. Investigators confirmed he was not under the influence at the time of the crash.
