Nathan Bennie and Garrett McAuliffe lost their lives in a tragic accident when their vehicle was struck by a semi-trailer in Nanaimo. The crash occurred at approximately 4 a.m. on February 20 at the intersection of Nanaimo Parkway and Jingle Pot Road.
According to Nanaimo RCMP, the car was making a left turn onto Jingle Pot Road when it was hit by a southbound semi-truck. Both young men were pronounced dead at the scene.
A memorial with flowers and a wooden cross now marks the location of the crash. Family and friends have created online fundraisers to assist their loved ones with expenses. McAuliffe’s GoFundMe page describes him as a caring and selfless person who always put others first. Bennie is remembered as someone with a kind heart who will be deeply missed.
