Louisiana State University freshman and women’s pole vaulter Dillon Reidenauer was one of two people killed in a car crash on the LSU campus Wednesday night, officials confirmed.
The incident occurred around 9:07 p.m. when Reidenauer, 18, was driving a Honda Accord southbound on Nicholas Drive. As she attempted to turn left onto South Quad Drive, her vehicle was struck by a BMW motorcycle traveling northbound on Nicholson Drive.
Reidenauer and the motorcyclist, identified as 23-year-old Bohdi Linton, were both pronounced dead at the scene, according to the Baton Rouge Police Department.
LSU Athletics expressed deep sorrow over Reidenauer’s passing, describing her as a promising pole vaulter and dedicated student pursuing an interior design degree. Originally from Abita Springs, Louisiana, she was a standout athlete at Fontainebleau High School, earning high rankings in state competitions.
The LSU Track & Field team, currently in College Station, Texas, for the SEC Championships, has received support from Texas A&M and university officials as they cope with this devastating loss. LSU Athletics is offering counseling and resources to students and staff affected by the tragedy.
