Fatal Kelowna car crash death of Louisa Saebels – Obituary

Louisa Saebels, a 90-year-old longtime resident of Kelowna, lost her life in a devastating crash Thursday night at the intersection of Highway 97 and 33.

Her granddaughter, Kayla Stromsten, shared that Saebels had lived in Kelowna for 25 years and was well known within the local Legion community.

Saebels was in the car with her daughter and seven-year-old great-granddaughter when a BMW collided with their vehicle around 6:15 p.m.

Stromsten, who was at a chiropractor appointment at the time, rushed to the scene upon hearing the news. She revealed that her family had been on their way to a Girl Guides meeting when the crash occurred.

Both Stromsten’s mother and daughter are currently hospitalized. Her mother is being monitored for internal bleeding, while her daughter has been admitted to the pediatric unit due to severe pain.

“The situation is horrific,” Stromsten said as her family continues to recover.
