Fatal Lompoc motorcycle crash death of Sean Birdsell – Obituary
Authorities have identified 53-year-old Sean Birdsell of Lompoc as the motorcyclist who lost his life in a crash on Tuesday afternoon.
The accident occurred around 4:10 p.m. at the intersection of W. Ocean Avenue and S. Bailey Avenue. According to the California Highway Patrol, an 83-year-old woman driving a pickup truck stopped at a stop sign on S. Bailey before pulling into the intersection, directly into the path of Birdsell, who was riding a Honda motorcycle eastbound on W. Ocean Avenue.
The collision resulted in Birdsell being pronounced dead at the scene. Officials confirmed that the driver of the pickup was not injured in the crash.
Following the incident, West Ocean Avenue was closed between Floradale Avenue and South V Street for approximately an hour and 40 minutes.
