Fatal Kittitas County plane crash death of Susan Johnson – Obituary
Susan Johnson, a 70-year-old resident of Waterville, lost her life in a tragic plane crash in eastern Kittitas County late Tuesday. The Kittitas County Sheriff’s Office confirmed her identity on Thursday.
Authorities had been searching for Johnson’s missing aircraft near the Grant County and Kittitas County border. The wreckage was located Wednesday morning near Whiskey Dick Mountain, close to the Wild Horse Windfarm. A Life Flight helicopter assisted in the discovery just after 9:00 AM, and Johnson’s body was found at the crash site.
According to reports, Johnson worked as a traveling nurse practitioner and was caring for NICU babies in Yakima before the incident.
The cause of the crash remains under investigation, and an autopsy is scheduled for next weekend.
