Alexander Sheppard, 30, lost his life after his vehicle crashed into a laundromat in Statesville, North Carolina, on the morning of March 6.
According to city officials, the accident took place at approximately 10:15 a.m. at C&H Laundry, located on Shelton Avenue near Old Charlotte Road. Sheppard was pronounced dead at the scene, while no injuries were reported among those inside the building.
Video footage provided by Iredell Auto Repair, a business near the crash site, captured emergency responders arriving as thick smoke drifted through the area. Authorities shut down Shelton Road temporarily to manage the situation and clear debris from the scene.
The city of Statesville expressed its condolences to Sheppard’s loved ones. The police department has urged anyone who may have witnessed the accident to contact them at 704-878-3406 as the investigation remains ongoing.
