Disnime Mitchell dies in fatal Charleston police shooting
Fatal Charleston police shooting death of Disnime Mitchell – Obituary
Disnime Mitchell was shot and killed by Charleston SWAT officers on March 6 during an operation connected to a February 23 robbery.
Authorities say Mitchell was confronted on Rebecca Street and Washington Street West as officers carried out the operation. When he pulled out a firearm and pointed it at law enforcement, officers repeatedly ordered him to drop the weapon. After he refused to comply, one SWAT officer fired a single shot, striking Mitchell.
Mitchell was transported to a hospital, where he was pronounced dead.
The police operation stemmed from a robbery in which multiple suspects were accused of assaulting and stealing a firearm from a victim. Four other individuals—Kenneth Washington, Nyasha Claytor, Jaquise Jackson, and Donovan Brown—have been arrested and are facing robbery charges.
