Fatal Mesquite shooting death of James Alder – Obituary
James Alder, a 45-year-old man from Mesquite, was fatally shot on Monday in what police believe was a road rage incident.
Officers responded to reports of a shooting on the South Service Road of Interstate 30 at Gus Thomasson Road around 5:46 p.m. When they arrived, they found Alder suffering from multiple gunshot wounds. He was rushed to a local hospital, where he later died.
Investigators identified a suspect after locating a vehicle linked to the shooting. Early Tuesday morning, around 1:15 a.m., officers executed a search warrant at the suspect’s residence and arrested 50-year-old Roderick Hanson. He has since been booked into the Dallas County jail on a murder charge.
Authorities are continuing to investigate the circumstances surrounding the shooting.
