Fatal Atlanta, GA standoff death of Marvin Spencer and Henretta Russell – Obituary
On March 7, 2025, two individuals, Marvin Spencer, 80, and Henretta Russell, 40, were found dead in an apartment following a hostage situation in Atlanta’s West End. The standoff began when Atlanta police responded to a welfare check at Oglethorpe Place Apartments, where a man had reportedly been threatening harm. After several hours of negotiation, the suspect, who had been holding a woman at knifepoint, surrendered to authorities. The two victims were discovered inside the apartment and later pronounced dead.
Russell’s son, the armed man involved in the incident, was taken to the hospital with self-inflicted injuries. Authorities are investigating the deaths as murders, with charges pending against the suspect.
