Fatal Oklahoma City shooting death of Kayden Haywood – Obituary
Kayden Haywood, a 16-year-old student at Douglass High School, was shot early Sunday morning near Northwest 122nd and Rockwell Avenue. He was taken to a nearby hospital, where he later died from his injuries.
Authorities have yet to make any arrests in connection with the shooting. Master Sgt. Gary Knight of the Oklahoma City Police Department urged the public to provide any information that could help solve the case.
The Oklahoma City Public Schools district confirmed Haywood’s enrollment at Douglass High School and announced that crisis counseling services would be available for students and staff affected by the loss.
In a separate incident later that night, 16-year-old Jashaun Cheatom, a junior at Del City High School, was also fatally shot at an apartment complex in southeast Oklahoma City. He was transported to OU Health but succumbed to his injuries.
Police have not linked the two shootings and are still searching for suspects in both cases.
