Fatal Toms River car crash death of Kiley Armstrong and Evan Fiore – Obituary

A tragic accident in Toms River on Friday night claimed the lives of Kiley Armstrong, 21, and Evan Fiore, 23, after their vehicle was struck by a speeding car driven by a juvenile. The crash occurred just before 11 p.m. at the intersection of Routes 37 and 166.

Authorities report that the young driver, who did not have a license, reached speeds of 118 mph in a 35 mph zone while evading police. Two additional passengers in the victim’s car—a 21-year-old woman and a 19-year-old man—suffered critical injuries and remain hospitalized.

Family members confirmed Armstrong and Fiore’s identities, with Fiore’s mother sharing the heartbreaking news on social media. A GoFundMe campaign, created by Fiore’s friend and a stepbrother of one of the injured passengers, also identified them as the couple who lost their lives.

The Ocean County Prosecutor’s Office stated that the suspect had initially been spotted speeding eastbound over the Thomas A. Mathis Bridge at 10:45 p.m., prompting an attempted traffic stop. The juvenile driver fled north on Route 35, leading officers to discontinue their pursuit. Later, the vehicle was seen in Seaside Heights traveling at excessive speeds before the fatal crash.

The suspect, whose age has not been disclosed, is now facing multiple charges, including aggravated manslaughter, two counts of death by auto, eluding police, and multiple counts of assault by auto. Additional charges include causing death and injury while driving without a license and aggravated assault showing extreme disregard for human life.

While the juvenile driver escaped injury, two of his passengers received treatment for minor wounds at a local hospital. The investigation into the devastating incident is ongoing.
